To make it even more interesting, we have built this contemporary hostel in a very special place.
Part of the original fort that hugged the city back in the 1700's is now ready to tell its story to the world.
Keeping it short, let's just say this horseshoe shaped fortress grew stronger over the years and lived through many battles.
It's called Locatelli's bastion, named after Colonel Locatello di Locatelli, who became famous for building bastions... and for defrauding the funds. Fast forward to the 1800's to when it became a military bakery feeding local army soldiers.
Baking bread for many years until the big city floods in 1997, the ovens were turned off and after two decades it was time to redecorate.
Since the first day we started, we knew this building deserved extra care.
Instead of chasing profit, we focus on comfort, quality and experience in all that we do. We teamed up with a bunch of awesome, creative and dedicated people who helped us to give this magical place its new, novel identity.
Blending the original history of the building with a contemporary touch, we used heaps of raw materials like wood, stone and metal.
To soften things up a bit, we matched artwork from local craftsmen with delicate vintage furniture.
The right ambience is very important us, so we stayed up late and played with the lighting a bit longer. Originally adapted from scenography by our designer the lights will play a leading role in your story...
Located in the historical centre of Olomouc, Long Story Short is for anyone who is looking for a break from the ordinary.
It's simple, affordable, well-designed yet still more than just a hostel. Here you will find a unique mix of dorms and private rooms for up to 56 people. We have an in-house café & bar, meeting room, free WiFi and more. Outside, you can take a seat in the magical garden or gradient terraces overlooking the petanque pit.
Our neighbours on the ground floor will welcome you to their growing creative hub. Vault 42 is an open co-working space for any of our digital nomad guests.
We are perfect for small weddings, functions and company parties. Just ask us, we love to change it up for everyone, after all, isn't that how the best stories are made?
