How close is Long Story Short to Prague?
We are just over a two hour train ride away, or 3 hours by car.
How do I get to Long Story Short from Prague airport, bus stations, or train stations?
By train: from Prague airport to the city centre: Catch the AE Airport Transfer bus to the train station (30 mins and 60CZK). We recommend taking the train to Olomouc from there and using LEO Express or Regio Jet trains (2.5 hours from around 130CZK).
How does Czech Republic Public Transportation operate?
I want to take a tram from the train station to you. Help?
You must pay before you ride. Don't get caught dodging the fare! Those inspectors guys show no mercy and will lock you up.
Pay 14CZK from the yellow machine to get your ticket and then jump on the number 2, 3, 4 or 6 in the direction of city centre - it takes 4 minutes. Take the tram from the tram stop on the same side as the station. Make sure you stamp the ticket in the yellow box on the tram.
Get off at the stop called U Dómu “Oo Dooh Moo”. Walk 20 meters in direction of the tram, you’ll then see our sign on the right hand side of the street. Take the right turn and walk down the road to us. Bingo!
What do I need to know when taking a taxi in Olomouc?
Say: Hello “Dobre den” to your driver
Ask for: Long Story Short hostel Koželužská “Koe zyeh loosh ska”.
Pay: 80CZK from the train station to us.

Yep we can and you’ll also be given a map at reception.

Does Long Story Short have a guest kitchen?
No, but we have an in-house Café, and offer a delicious breakfast buffet instead. No more 1 minute noodles or beans on toast! All you can eat buffet of local farmers' produce freshly prepared by our chefs for only 150CZK.
Can I borrow a hairdryer, iron, alarm clock, or adapter?
Hair dryers are in all private rooms and in the shared shower-rooms. The rest we have at reception.
Does Long Story Short provide towels and toiletries?
You bet, there’s a free towel for you and soap in the bathrooms too.
What is included in the price?
A cozy made-up bed, towel, locker space, access to bathrooms and shared spaces.
Do you have luggage storage?
Yep and it’s on secure lockdown.
What methods of payment does Long Story Short accept?
Credit/ debit card and cash.
Can Long Story Short accept payment in Euros or exchange Euros for Czech Koruna?
Nope, Czech Koruna only (cash machine close by or pay on your card)
Does Long Story Short have an international phone for guests to use?
We have a PC station and free WiFi where you can Skype etc.
Is Long Story short accessible by wheelchair?
Even though there are stairs on both sides leading to us, the accessible entrance is through the Summer Cinema next to us. Please let us know in advance before you book so we can arrange the gate to be opened as the Summer Cinema is a seasonal business. We are sorry for the inconveniece. The whole hostel is wheelchair accessible including a luxury bathroom.
Is there Internet access at Long Story Short?
Yep and it’s good and free.
Does Long Story Short offer a laundry service?
Yep we do, pass us over your smellies and we’ll hand them back just like your mama did it. (200CZK per 10KG load)
How safe and secure is Long Story Short?
Well, aside from being part of the old fortress wall that actually guarded the city whole 600 years ago… it’s totally safe still nowadays by modern standards too. We have electronic key cards and CCTV rollin’ 24/7.
Where can I park my ride?
You can park with us. But we have limited spaces, please check with us before you roll up so we can save you a spot. If it’s full there’s a multi-storey car park next to us.
The access to our parking spot is from the back of the hostel, so the address you want to set up in your GPS is: Dobrovského 15, Olomouc.
It will take you to a tinny alley between a park and a set of flats, into which you will turn and arrive at our back entrance where you will see our logo and plenty space to park. Be ware, it's super tinny and easy to miss! If you have any dificulties please contact us, we'll be happy to navigate.
Is Long Story Short non-smoking?
Yep, strictly non-smoking inside - but smoking is cool outside.
Are pets allowed?
We love animals, but not on our grandma's couch. All our furry friends are welcome to have a roll around in the garden.
If we are travelling as a small group, can we stay together in the same room?

Are the shared dorm rooms mixed gender?
We have 4 mixed gender dorms, 2 girls only dorm room and 5 private rooms.
Can Long Story Short send a letter of confirmation for the Embassy so that I can apply for a visa?
If you require a confirmation of your booking for a visa application, we will require a full non-refundable prepayment. Once that is sorted, we are happy to send you a confirmation email of your booking.
Can I make a reservation if I do not have a credit card?

Is there an age limit at Long Story Short?
Only for dorm rooms: You have to be 18-49 to stay in our dorms.
